Thanksgiving

This year we had the great privilege of hosting Thanksgiving. Being a person who loves to cook, Thanksgiving is always a fun thing for me to do. Our good friends the Presslers were kind enough to join us and help bring some of the food. Chris was even kind enough to bring his smoker grill over early and smoke a turkey in addition to my herb brined turkey, just because Michael really wanted to try what Chris's smoke bird tasted like. And I have to admit I am glad he asked because that turkey was delicious! Frankly the whole meal ranks up there with being one of the most delicious Thanksgiving feasts I have ever had. My menu consisted of an herb brined turkey, rolls, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, and a cranberry slush for a drink. The Presslers added, smoked turkey,  green bean casserole, mashed potatoes full of yummy cheese and jello. It was so yummy. Thankfully we had plenty of leftovers to share among all of us so we continued to enjoy the goodness for a couple days after.
We really enjoyed the company of the Presslers. They came over nice and early to help with the food, setting the table, bringing some snacks and just hanging out. It really felt like one big happy family!

Of course what would Thanksgiving be without pie? We lucked out and were able to have pie two nights in a row because the Presslers always have a pie night the night before. Lucky us. This year I made pumpkin, apple, and a pecan pie. The Presslers brought over coconut cream and chocolate pudding pie. All were so good.
