Germany- Day 3 and 4

Day 3- Friday, June 8th
While Mom stayed with Oma, Dad drove down to us so we could all go to Luisenpark in Mannheim together, which is just a big outdoor park with lots of fields, fish, a few farm animals, butterflies and multiple playgrounds. We went there a lot for ward activities, even a few concerts from traveling BYU groups, and just to have some good family and friend fun.  It was really fun to see the kids playing at all the parks I use to when I was a kid.

The castle park is the best park at Luisenpark. And it certainly was the kids' favorite as well.

Had to run around the fountain again and again and again. 

Have you ever met a begging catfish? Too bad we didn't have any food to give him.

For lunch we got ourselves bratwurst on brotchen and pomme fritz (french fries) yum!

This TV tower, which is also a rotating fine restrurant,  is just outside of the park, but it holds a lot of memories for my family. My parents had their engagement dinner there, Eric and Abby went there while they were dating, and my first date took me there for dinner.  

Isaac and Emma had a lot of fun chasing this stork.

Let's just say naps on this trip were taken either on someones lap or in the car  in between destinations. 

After a full day at the park we were able to go back to Oma's house to enjoy a spaghetti dinner with her. Other than all three kids crying for a straight hour and a half at bedtime, still struggling with a new place and jet lag, we had an awesome day!

Day 4- Saturday, June 9th

After having a delicious brotchen breakfast, which I walked to the bakery to get them fresh ( I just can't get enough of them), we met with Mom and Dad to head downtown Heidelberg to walk down the Haupstrasse and to the Altstadt.

The Haupstrasse is basically a street just full of stores.

If you can't tell one of the big highlights of this trip was the food. Here we are eating butter pretzels. Once you've had one of these you will never look at another pretzel the same. 

This is the Heiligegeist Kirche, the one we saw from the castle.

Once again the food. This is just about the best doner kebab you could ever eat. It was huge and we all ate our whole kebab!! It was soooo good.

Of course anything will taste better when you have a view like we did.

We had fun watching the barges go along the Necker River

This is the funny monkey statue by the old bridge. I love how my little monkey is hanging from it.

This is the old bridge, a VERY popular torist attraction in Heidelberg.

If you look to the right you will see the castle. This is place is truly beautiful! I feel so blessed to have grown up in a place that was this stunning.

 After a day like that we were all pretty tired. But we couldn't help ourselves, we had to walk over to this amazing Italian ice cream place that I have been talking about for years. Sadly we didn't get a picture, just believe me that it is just about the best ice cream you can eat.
